A newly conducted analysis predicts that sales of electric vehicles will outpace combustion vehicles by 2036 in the United States.

Consulting firm EY, formerly Ernst & Young, released an analysis stating that Europe will sell more zero-emission vehicles than combustion vehicles by 2028 and that China and the U.S. are expected to reach that threshold in 2033 and 2036, respectively.

A new study lays to rest the tired argument that electric vehicles aren’t much cleaner than internal combustion vehicles. Over the life cycle of an EV — from digging up the materials needed to build it to eventually laying the car to rest — it will release fewer greenhouse gas emissions than a gas-powered car, the research found. That holds true globally, whether an EV plugs into a grid in Europe with a larger share of renewables, or a grid in India that still relies heavily on coal.

TOKYO, July 16 (Reuters) - Honda Motor Co's (7267.T) new chief executive said on Friday the Japanese automaker was willing to form new alliances to make electrification profitable.

"If through an alliance Honda can accomplish early what it should aim to be, then we'd be willing to form an alliance," Toshihiro Mibe, who took the top job in April, told a press briefing, when asked how he envisions global alliances on electrification.

General Motors revealed Thursday that it’s planning to extend its holistic EV charging approach, called Ultium Charge 360, to fleet customers of its BrightDrop electric commercial delivery vehicle unit. 

GM said that the fleet version of Ultium Charge 360 will offer fleet and facility management tools plus integration with OnStar Vehicle Insights telematics and the BrightDrop management platform.

Half of Volkswagen’s sales are expected to be battery-electric vehicles by 2030, the German carmaker said Tuesday.

By 2040, the company said almost 100% of its new vehicles in major markets should be zero-emission vehicles.

Those objectives are part of Volkswagen’s wider aim to be fully carbon neutral by 2050.
