“The strong and growing market for electric mobility is reflected in the news that Tesla surpassed 200k electric vehicle sales with this month’s deliveries.

“We applaud Tesla’s achievement and the record sale numbers of the industry as a whole. Electric car offerings are diversifying to meet their drivers’ needs and the market is poised to expand well beyond the four-dozen other electric drive models available today.

“The federal tax incentive for plug-in vehicle purchases is helping to grow this important market and speed the competitive innovation that drives it. Consumers want choices and the federal incentive for the purchase of an electric vehicle is working as intended to provide them. For the nation, electric drive is an important tool to boost energy security, economic growth and environmental sustainability. 

“EDTA will be working with Congress to ensure that federal incentives continue to promote consumer choice and help to scale a technology critical to our national priorities.”
