Consumers eager to buy an electric car may soon have more choices than they ever thought possible. 

Most automakers are now fully committed to the electric vehicle (EV) market and have recently outlined plans to build a variety of models within the coming years.

The powertrain will range from fully electric (in battery electric vehicles, or BEVs) to the more common hybrid types that are powered by both gasoline and electricity. That will give consumers plenty of choices to consider.
